Mitchell Planning Group, L.L.C., is a land development consulting firm providing professional services to businesses, individuals, and governmental entities. We provide professional planning services to municipalities by administering the development review process, providing professional consulting expertise to the citizens and developers, preparing staff reports, ordinances and presenting to the governing bodies. We represent the real estate development community in the design and land planning of properties by assisting with the development process including concept planning, site planning, zoning, preliminary and final platting. We make every effort to maintain a reputation for responding quickly to the increasingly complex set of development issues associated with our client’s many land use needs. Our clientele includes municipalities, national, regional, and local real estate developers, businesses, and builders of commercial and residential properties. Karen K. Mitchell, President, has in excess of 32 years in land planning and development review activities. She is experienced in both the public and private sectors having been a City Planner for the cities of Killeen, and Denton and Director of Planning and Development for the cities of Crowley and Haltom City. She also served as interim Development Director for the City of Schertz. For the past 12 years, Karen has been a private consultant for the development community as well as municipalities. In addition, Karen is active with the American Planning Association and has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. Karen has also served on the Executive Committee for the Texas State University Alumni Association Board of Directors as the Secretary/Treasurer and had been elected as Vice President before resigning. She is also the past- Director of the Midwest Section of the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association and has experience with training Planning and Zoning Commissioners and elected officials state-wide. Karen also serves as an expert witness in land use related legal cases.
